Rate limits

Limits keep the platform fast and fair. When you exceed a limit the API returns 429 Too Many Requests with headers telling you when to retry.

Limits

ScopeLimitNotes
Sandbox60 requests / minutePer API key.
Production (default)600 requests / minutePer API key. Higher tiers available on request.
Payment creation120 requests / minutePer API key, in addition to the global limit.

Rate limit headers

HeaderMeaning
RateLimit-LimitThe request ceiling for the current window.
RateLimit-RemainingRequests remaining in the current window.
RateLimit-ResetSeconds until the window resets.
Retry-AfterOn a 429, how many seconds to wait before retrying.

Handling 429s

Back off using the Retry-After header, ideally with exponential backoff and jitter. Because payment creation is idempotent, it is always safe to retry a payment with the same Idempotency-Key after a 429.
